Jim and Aletha Sing

Jim and Aletha were musicians and ministry partners for 70 years. Their love for the Lord was expressed through their songs as well as Jim’s gospel messages. Please enjoy their album that was recorded in 1980 just before they entered 8 years of full-time itinerate ministry through music & preaching.

In Lieu Of Flowers Please Consider Donating To World Hope International

World Hope International (WHI) is a Christian relief and development organization working with vulnerable and exploited communities to alleviate poverty, suffering, and injustice.  Jim would be so honored to know your donations in his memory were helping this cause so near to his heart.

Dear Aletha,

I am so sorry for your loss of Jim. Congratulations on 70 years of marriage. He was an amazing man. I’m sorry for the lateness of this message; I just found out about Jim’s passing. Take care. Love, Cindy Spring Romano

What an uncle. Loved him so much. I remember once one of us kids told the other to “shut up”, uncle Jim calmly turned and in his soft southern drawl he said, “you don’t say shut up, you say huush”. Never forgot that and I think I’ve said huush instead of shut up every since. Uncle Jim, you will be missed as you were loved.

Dear Aletha and Family,
So, Jim is home! What wonderful fellowship we had during revivals where I pastored. Aletha, do you remember the time at Hillview when Jim when Jim wanted us to remember a point he made in his message, and said, “Put a pin there.” My wife, Edna, after the service, what she was supposed to do with the pin. That provided many laughs whenever we met. Your son, Stevan is now our Pastor. may the God of al grace comfort your hearts.

I’m honored to acknowledge my appreciation for such a wonderful man. Pastor Jim for a time was my peer, he was a mentor during my earlier days of ministry and he was especially a great friend. On one occasion our local board had decided to give out raises, when I was called into the meeting they told me that I was to receive a double portion because Pastor Jim and Aletha believed that my family needed the extra! He and Aletha I believe have always been “ in tune “ with the Holy Spirit and allowed The Lord to use them in such a mighty way. Enjoy the rewards you so greatly deserve Pastor Jim and thank you for investing in this “wet behind the ears” young man from the past! Striving to carry on part of the legacy you humbly lived, Pastor Todd McDonald

What an honor to acknowledge the fact that Jim Sheets was my friend. He came into my life when I was a young man. He and Aletha were legend in using their musical talents for Jesus and The Kingdom. I had the privilege of sharing ministry with them when I officiated at my cousin’s, Jack Bryson, funeral in the late 90’s. My father, the late Dr. J. Harold Loman, worked with Jim and Aletha in revivals and camp meetings. I wish I could be there for his home going service, but time and distance will prevent me from coming. The family will be in my prayers.

Dear Aletha, Curtis and I have shared wonderful memories that he and Beulah had and Ken and I had with you and Jim in our younger years. In later years, George and I had special memories of being with you. One was at Fairmount Camp in Indiana. Jim always had a bright smile and will be remembered as a true believer and fervent desire to serve the Lord he loved. You both have been a wonderful blessing. I know you will truly miss him, but we can say from experience that the Lord is faithful, and in those moments that you need Him so much, you will find Him very close. We love you and the family and will continue to hold you up with prayer.

Aletha; I grieve with you and the family for your loss of Brother Jim. His singing the hymns of the church are a special memory to me. This world is a sadder place for his loss but just think how much grander Heaven sounds.

Oh, Aletha dear, we go back DECADES. I remember when you and Jim got married…and we’ve been friends ever since then. Your Dad and Mother were pastoring in Erlanger, I think …. when we first met. It seems old friends are going to heaven so often these days. I am thinking, “when we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicin’ that will be…..When we all see Jesus we’ll sing and shout the victory.” At Camp Meetiong, Jim would lead the congregation singing that!
